Stephen is a partner in the corporate advisory team and has over 30 years’ legal experience, advising a wide range of New Zealand’s largest companies and private investors on all aspects of commercial and private law including corporate governance, contract law, trade practices, overseas investment, competition, securities and wealth management.

Stephen has expertise in mergers and acquisitions and securities and energy law.

He has advised on the establishment of, and investments and divestments by, numerous private equity funds.

In the energy sector, he was involved in drafting the original rules for New Zealand’s wholesale electricity market and has acted on a wide range of commercial transactions for many participants in that market including Mercury NZ on its establishment, geothermal developments and IPO, the Crown on the IPO of Genesis Energy, and NZ Windfarms on its scheme of arrangement with Meridian.
